Everything is a file search program for Windows. The Windows search feature is too slow, and sometimes it can be difficult and tedious to find a file with the operating system's built-in search engine.

Everything creates a database of all the files you have in your storage units. Thanks to this, it can instantly find any file you are looking for. When you open the program, it will show every folder and file present in the system—hence the program's name.

File indexing works very fast. With Windows freshly installed, with about 120,000 files, it takes one second to create the database. With one million files, indexing takes about one minute. All this is done while consuming very few resources, as the program uses only a few tens of MB of RAM memory.

If the program is always open, Everything will monitor all changes made to the storage units, whether deleting files or adding new ones. Keep in mind, though, that Everything only indexes NTFS formatted storage drives, although you can add network drives or FAT32 and exFAT drives.

In addition to searching for files, Everything can find data within the files themselves. However, this search is much slower, since the program does not index the content inside the files.
